Contests, Lotteries, and Co-Promotions
As a general rule, stations may promote themselves to their heart’s content. There are two important and tangled exceptions to that proposition: if the promotion takes the form of a contest or lottery, or if the self-promotion involves the promotion of another entity. The latter can be especially problematic as Community Radio stations are frequently asked to (and want to) be listed as co-sponsors/co-presenters of community events with for-profits and not for profits. John Crigler will take us through the regulatory thicket, with plenty of time for your questions.
