Rural Programming Initiative
Summary #2, WTIP

Back to Rural Programming Initiative

October 2002

1) We did not specifically alter our regular program schedule. However, we did add more local sports and election coverage and increased the amount of local material in our "drive time" programs. We feel we need to continue strengthening our local coverage in all aspects because we are the only station that can offer local news and information.

#2) There has been a drop in TSL & AQHP for Monday through Friday 6:00 - 8:00 am & 8:00 - 10:00 am dayparts. We do not feel this decrease is necessarily the result of program adjustments we made; rather, we feel it is the result of the new presence of Minnesota Public Radio in our listening area since our first survey.

#3) We plan on making changes as a result of the research. We are considering adding an alternative news hour from 8:00 until 9:00 am to give listeners another perspective from Minnesota Public Radio. We are also considering expanding our local community calendar program to two hours.
