The Rural Program Director’s Manual

The Rural Program Director’s Manual is designed to serve as a companion to The Public Radio Program Director’s Handbook (PRPDH). Every station's community is distinct, but many principles of radio listening and radio programming are the same regardless of market size or location. These principles and how they affect the work of programmers at all types of stations are discussed in detailed in the PRPDH. We urge all stations, including those in rural areas, to consult the PRPDH for grounding in those radio basics. This manual is designed to address the differences that do exist between rural and urban radio stations, and which affect programming and programming decisions.
The Rural Program Director’s Manual is a part of NFCB's Rural Programming Initiative.
